A Three–Week Intensive Trustworthy AI Summer Program for High School Students on Modeling, Ethics and Real-World Decisions
Program Dates: July 20 - August 7, 2026
Week 1 online | Weeks 2-3 in person at Science and Engineering Hall, 800 22nd St NW; Monday-Friday at GW

• Motivated high school student
• Curious & interested in AI, STEM, or problem solving
• No advanced coding experience required
• Competitive; Only 20 students will be selected

You will learn how Excel, Python, and AI work together to solve real-world problems in energy, transportation, policy, and business. Through hands-on labs, mini-projects, and ethics discussions, you will learn to model decisions, test scenarios, question AI outputs, & communicate responsibly.

• Build spreadsheet models, formulas, logic, & Excel Solver.
• Use Python to clean data and create visuals.
• Work with generative AI ethically to frame problems and debug code.
• Compare AI recommendations with human reasoning and model results.
• Present a capstone project that explains both technical results and social impacts.

9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Theoretical themes & modeling
12:15-1:15 p.m. Lunch
1:30-4:30 p.m. Hands-on: individual and teamwork

Selected students will receive: $150 transportation support; $150 lunch support; Hands-on instruction, mentoring, and field-trip activities
*Field trips and guest speakers may occur during instruction blocks.

Apply to the Program by filling out the form by the deadline 5:00 p.m. on May 1st, 2026.
Upload a one-page resume.
Upload a one-page statement of interest describing your background, interest in the 3-week workshop, educational/career aspirations, and commitment to the full program.
Upload a copy of your academic transcript.
Upload one recommendation letter from a teacher or academic/sports mentor.
Submit the completed and signed enrollment form in the Google Form.
Acceptance Notification will be sent by June 1, 2026.
