Outreach
Advancing trustworthy AI requires engaging a broad range of stakeholders, both within and beyond academia. TRAILS is cultivating a collaborative, cross-sector network to enhance both foundational AI research and its practical, responsible implementation.
Stakeholder Research Collaborations
In the last two years, TRAILS increased its engagement with a wide array of stakeholder communities by 73%, positioning parents, emergency managers, visual artists, and many more as active contributors to research.
TRAILSCon
TRAILS convened 450 participants from 192 organizations at the inaugural TRAILSCon in February 2024 in Washington, D.C., focusing on AI and the future of work, including academic, industry, government, and non-profit sector leaders and practitioners. The next TRAILSCon will be March 4-5, 2026 with a focus on evaluating AI performance, risk, and impact.
Cross-Sector Convenings
TRAILS faculty and staff led national cross-sector discussions through hosting the AISIC Plenary and the Data Governance Hub webinar series, as well as contributing to numerous academic and industry conferences.
TRAILS & NIST Co-host the U.S. AI Safety Institute Consortium’s First Plenary Meeting
Making Research Accessible to the Public
To build public understanding of AI trust and trustworthiness and build engagement, TRAILS produces broadly accessible content and experiences, including public events at Planet Word and the #TrustTRAILS video series, which features various researchers explaining a myriad of topics related to trustworthy AI.
